I have ALL THE FEELS for this collection!

My daily routine for the last week has been changed up to include these six oils and my emotions are so much better for it!

Fact --> I straight up did *not* buy into the whole oils & emotions thing at first. I thought it was a joke.

What's funny is that the oil that really drew me into using oils was Stress Away. I was dealing with anxiety and panic attacks, and that little bottle became a refuge every night.

Even having felt the incredible calm Stress Away brought on, I just couldn't accept that feelings and oils belonged together.

Until I learned a little fact. 

"Research at New York University proved the amygdala gland (the gland in the limbic system of the brain that stores and releases trauma in the body) does not respond to sound, sight, or touch, but ONLY releases emotional trauma through the sense of SMELL."   (From Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils by Carolyn Mein)

Also, here's a little bit of info that really expanded my thinking:

New research has shown emotional responses and fears may be inherited biologically through chemical changes that occur in DNA.

During tests, mice passed on learned information about traumatic or stressful experiences to subsequent generations. (From Nat Nuerosci, 2014 Jan; 17(1) 89-96)
Clearly we ALL need this.

For each blend we apply, we will say an affirmation. It's all about intention. When we say an affirmation as we apply our oil, we are putting an intention into the action to release or gain something. As we repeat the affirmation over several applications, we will create a scent memory and start to associate that oil with the intention we set. Over time we can actually create a new belief system in our mind that moves us toward a positive emotional state. This new belief system can eventually override old, destructive belief systems and patterns that are holding us back in life.

Apply a drop or two to your belly button and massage in a clockwise motion while saying or thinking your affirmation.

1. Forgive yourself for allowing the other person to affect your health and happiness.
2. Forgive the other person for any hurt or harm they may have caused you. (This doesn't need to be done in their presence, as this is an inner-adjustment on your part.)
3. Give the other person permission to forgive you.
4. See the good in the situation.
5. Be thankful for the experience and the wisdom you gained from it.


Most of our organs are connected to an emotion. The liver is connected to anger.Negative energy goes into the blood and then to the liver for cleansing, where toxins can be trapped. Thus, the liver becomes a storage place for anger, resentment, bitterness, hatred, jealousy, envy, addictions, and a host of destructive emotions.

Freedom comes from being at peace, rather than harboring negative emotions. Knowing that negativity can be stored in the liver causing issues with your health and well-being, it is important to release negativity intentionally.

Rub Release over your liver area and be sure to follow with extra water to assist in detoxing the body of toxic emotions while saying or thinking your affirmation.

The majority of people are unaware of the correlation between their anger and the effect it has on their liver because they don’t understand the depth of the connection. The state of the liver is actually fundamental to how we will feel the emotion, which could directly shape how we will act or react to what life dishes out.

By adding lemon vitality to our water each day, we aid in a gentle detox. Also, doing the Cleansing Trio once or twice a year can help to clear out negativity you may be storing.



When we live in the past or dwell on the future, we are not being productive in the present. A world of opportunities presents itself when we can live in the now. Being present is a skill that we can improve upon through practice. Set aside 5 minutes each day, apply or diffuser your Present Time and/or Frankincense, and sit quietly with your breath. Thoughts or ideas will come up and when they do you can just acknowledge them and release them. As you practice this, you'll find it easier and easier to find a quiet mind and peace in the moment.

PRESENT TIME is an empowering blend that creates a feeling of being in the moment. Disease develops when we live in the past with regret. Being in the present time is key to progressing and moving forward.

We are all born knowing exactly who we are. As we have negative experiences or traumatic events happen, we can lose parts of ourselves. Feelings of shame and confusion surface as a result and can be a great hindrance in adolescence and into adulthood. In fact, this is often what leads to a midlife crisis. Inner Child can help you access your creativity and your inner child and authentic self. It can also be very helpful for children who have had a troubled past or who are going through a difficult time emotionally.

INNER CHILD may stimulate memory response, helping one reconnect with their true identity. This is an essential step to achieving emotional balance.

Apply one drop of Inner Child around the navel and under the nose while saying or thinking your affirmation.

After you finish the final step in the protocol, allow yourself some time to relax and unwind. Be gentle with yourself as you shift into a new normal emotionally. If you feel like you need to do this protocol multiple times throughout the day, feel free! I've done it 3-4 times on occasion. 

You may or may not feel big dramatic shifts all of a sudden. Whether you do or you don't, it's okay. Some people slowly relax into a new state one day at a time, while others experience a big release some days. Either way, by following this protocol every day for 30 days, you will be able to make some big changes in a gentle way.

Also, you may consider keeping a journal of your thoughts, emotions, and experiences as you go through the process. It's amazing how in hindsight we can truly see just how far we've come.

Okay, friends. Let’s up the FREQUENCY of our discussions on FREQUENCY around here. No, it’s not woo-woo! It’s physics and it's game-changing info to understand. I know it’s a word that can cause eyes to glaze over, but we’re gonna change that cause it’s SUPER awesome! 

Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you can not help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philsophy. This is physics.

Albert knows y'all. He knows. So, everything has a frequency and that includes essential oils. Understanding what that means will help us truly grasp the power that these drops contain. 

WHAT IS FREQUENCY? Frequency is the measurable rate of electrical energy flow that is constant between two points. Again, everything has frequency.

WHAT DOES THE FREQUENCY MEAN? The state of our health and well-being is directly affected by the frequency of our body, and our frequency is affected by the frequency of the things we come in contact with.

Essential oil frequencies have a wide range from 46 MHz up to 580 MHz. Healthy people have a smaller range and our bodies function well between 62-72MHz. Disease begins at 58 MHz. Each organ and part of our body operates at it’s own frequency and each responds to other frequencies in their own way. For example, your heart resonates at a different frequency than your skin or your bones. Using a wide array of essential oils with varying frequencies can help support ALL the systems of your body.

These are just some examples. The choices we make every day directly impact our frequency. Our body systems each respond to different frequencies. By using high quality essential oils with varying frequencies, and making wise lifestyle choices, we can affect our body’s frequencies so that it can be equipped to handle the day-to-day as well as seasons of additional immune stressors.

10 Safety Tips for Using Essential Oils

YOUNG LIVING'S OILS ARE SO PURE AND POTENT, THAT WE MUST RESPECT THE DROPS LIKE THE LITTLE POWERHOUSES THAT THEY ARE. Don't worry, though! It's mostly common sense and becomes more and more intuitive as you begin to use your oils every day.

Here are a few safety suggestions that should get you off to a good start! Pay extra attention to #10! 

1. Store them in a cool, dark place with lids secure to maintain their properties.

2. Keep a carrier oil, like YL's V6 oil complex or coconut oil, on hand to dilute. If an oil is too strong on your skin, just apply some carrier oil and wipe off if necessary.

3. Always use glass containers with your oils, especially when drinking, since plastics contain chemicals that the oils will break down.

4. Only use YL's Vitality line internally. These are labeled just for internal use to make it easy!

5. For those with sensitive skin, it may be best to test a small area and wait 30 minutes before applying more. 

6. Keep oils away from eyes and never put them directly in your ears. Should oils irritate or get near the eyes, use a carrier oil (like YL's V6 oil complex or coconut oil) to remove the oil and lessen discomfort. NEVER use water.

7. Citrus oils are photosensitive and may cause a rash or darkening of skin if applied before direct sun exposure. As a general rule, wait 12 hours or after applying a citrus oil before going in the sun.

8. Those with epilepsy or high blood pressure should use caution when using high-ketone oils like basil, rosemary, sage or tansy. 

9. The bottom of the feet is a very safe place to apply your oils and is super efficient for getting the oils into your system.

10. RELAX! You can't really "mess up" using your oils. Experiment, see what you like and give yourself lots of opportunity to see just how incredible and versatile these oils really are! 

Elderberry Syrup with essential oils
Elderberry Syrup w/ Essential Oils

Elderberry syrup is one of those must-have tricks in your wellness arsenal! If you've ever bought some, you know that it’s crazy expensive to buy ($15 for anywhere from 4-8 oz) and even then it’s hard to be sure the ingredients are the best. Luckily, it is far less expensive to make on your own and so easy! If you can make tea, you can make this! Normally elderberry syrup is made with a combo of dried and fresh spices, but this particular recipe is potent and powerful through its use of Young Living essential oils. It is sure to support the immune system and more easily stay above the wellness line! It is also extremely tasty – dangerously so, in fact.

So, what’s the deal with elderberries? I’m so glad you asked. Elderberries are rich in vitamins A, B and C and are a traditional cold and flu remedy used for hundreds of years. They are known to have high antioxidant activity and the bioflavonoids and other proteins in the juice of the berry destroy the ability of a cold or flu virus to infect a cell. Add that to all the amazing properties and benefits of essential oils and you have a yummy and amazing recipe on your hands!




  1. Add one cup of elderberries to 4 cups of boiling water. (Also add loose leaf tea, fresh ginger, and whole cloves if using them.)
  2. Allow to simmer on the stove for 45 minutes or until the liquid has been reduced by about half.
  3. Remove water from the stove and cool until it is just warm enough to melt the honey. The less heat the better to preserve all the properties of the honey and essential oils.
  4. Strain through a fine mesh strainer then stir in the honey (and the maple syrup, if using it).
  5. Add your vitality essential oils.
  6. Pour into a pretty glass container and enjoy!!!

This should be stored in the refrigerator to keep fresh. I’ve had batches last many months with no signs of going bad.  Using 1 tsp per day for adults and 1/2 tsp per day for children will be beneficial for keeping your immune system boosted. If you feel like you need more support, take it often throughout the day until you feel stronger. This can be tasty to top pancakes or waffles or even add to teas as a way to sweeten!


  • Use to sweeten hot cereal 
  • Pour on top of french toast, pancakes, or waffles
  • Stir a spoonful into your tea
  • Add a little to your NingXia Red shot
  • Make a delicious NingXia & Elderberry Cremosa
  • Take a spoonful straight

Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of the essential oils used in this recipe and what they can do for you! Most of these are the essential oil versions of the spices called for in traditional elderberry syrup recipes. Knowing that 1 drop of peppermint oil is equivalent to 26 cups of peppermint tea in potency, it’s easy to see why using oils is a no-brainer!

  • Thieves Vitality – This is a seriously amazing blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata and rosemary. It was created based on a legend about a group of 15th century thieves who rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contracting the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. I’m just going out on a limb here and saying, this is powerful.
  • Nutmeg Vitality – Besides tasting and smelling festive, this oil maintains optimal digestive function, support's the body's natural inflammation, supports joint health and promotes cardiovascular health.
  • Clove Vitality – This is one of the main single oils in the Thieves blend, but has so much to offer that adding a little more just seems like more of a really good thing. It’s said that the people on the island of Ternate were free from epidemics until the 16th century, when Dutch conquerors destroyed the clove trees on the island. Many of the islanders died  from the epidemics that followed. It is a powerful immune support and has been used in dentistry for years.
  • Cinnamon Bark Vitality – Another oil already found in the Thieves blend, cinnamon bark is a powerful immune support.
  • Frankincense Vitality – One of the gifts given to Jesus by the Three Wise Men, frankincense has been used for centuries! It is known to support the immune system and relax the body.
  • Copaiba Vitality - A magnifier of the other oils it is used with and supporter of the body's natural response to inflammation, this one is extremely high in beta-caryophyllene. Google that! CBD oil contains about 30% beta-caryophyllene, while copaiba contains 40-70%! Powerful.
  • Orange Vitality - Contains the naturally occurring constituent d-limonene (Google that!), it's an important ingredient in NingXia Red and ImmuPro that supports cellular health.

Keep in mind that there are so many essential oils you could choose from, so feel free to pick and choose which oils you use and how much of each you put in. This recipe can serve as a guide for you to make it just the way you like it. Too spicy? Add more honey or purified water and elderberry. Too thin? Add more honey. Not enough flavor? Add more oils! It’s impossible to mess it up. Just tweak it as needed to suit your taste.
